International Treasures: K-Dramas, Britpop, and a Whole lot more

"International media"! What comes to mind when you hear those words?
"The British Invasion", the Beatles, Coldplay, BTS, BLACKPINK? Or Bollywood, Netflix K-dramas, or Anime?

Those all flash through my head when I think of international media. I find that through engaging with international media, I have found greater understanding for other people and cultures. It is one thing to hear that people from one culture are a certain way. It is an entirely different thing to see the way other people feel. It allows people from other cultures to be more humanized. Here are several of the shows I have enjoyed form various places:

Britain:
    Sherlock
    Pride and Prejudice
    The Great British Bake Off
South Korea:
    Crash landing on You
    Fight My Way
    While You were Sleeping
    WISUE (Artist)
Spain:
    Beret (Artist)
Finland:
    Finnish Blood Swedish Heart (Movie)
Australia:
    Kodaline (Artist)

Have you learned about other cultures through International Media? What are some of your favorite shows from other countries? Movies? Bands?

  2. We used international media in our Spanish classes to get a better understanding of Spanish culture. Interestingly, this has made it so a lot of Disney movies like Encanto or Coco I have only seen in the Spanish language. I do not remember what it was called but one of my favorites was a historical fiction movie about a baseball player from South America (I think it was Roberto Clemente).

  3. Loved this post!! I love Kdramas and anime, and many other forms of international media (music, etc.) I think it's so important to expose yourself to content from other cultures. Hollywood doesn't make them like that! I have a deep love for international media! My parents did a good job raising me and my siblings with exposure to media from all over the globe and I'm so grateful! Thanks for sharing!
